Always my Home
In this mad world,
We are destined to walk.
Our minds are delicate,
Our hearts are soft,
Our eyes are searching for beauty.
Our dreams maybe broken,
Our spirits may be low,
But our bond has been strengthened.
Whatever be lost,
Whatever be gained,
It all comes to naught.
Money may come,
Comforts may go,
But I know you will be there.
For my searching eyes,
And hesitant stride,
You will always be my home

THE FROZEN MOMENT

THE ROAD

finding a place among our bags
Past the playground where
cows silently graze
The corner Ganesha
who listens to my prayers,
The roadside stall
where I buy my roses,
The docile calf
lying in the shades,
The baby cradle
swinging from the trees,
The tender coconut stall,
most romantic of places,
The parting tease
by my office doors,
The returning walk
from there to the gates,
The search in the crowd
for the familiar face,
The spurt of joy
when it falls in my gaze,
The sharing of stories
from either of the worlds,
My wanting to pick up
the scurrying puppies,
Your gentle reminders
that they'll miss thier mommies,
A traffic jam,
blessing in disguise,
A punctured tyre,
more moments of joy,
If it rains,
its heaven on earth,
And when I hop down
to open the gates,
My heart always
wishes the same,
That the road had stretched
a little farther,
The wind on my face
a little stronger,
A few more turns
and a few more lanes,
A few more moments
of sharing the ride,
(Pronounced) Man and wife
on this day,
When death really comes
to do us apart,
I want to wish
just the same,
(that) the road had stretched
a few more lanes.

My heart still flutters around you
My heart still flutters around you:
Where I spent summer afternoons,
Swinging away under the trees,
Watching the squirrels scamper up and down.
Where I would search for your presence,
The noble teacher, complete,
With spectacles, pen and paper sheets.
My eyes would search the crowd on the road,
To single you out walking back home,
To run and greet you, as you turn the corner
Sipping coffee over our kitchen table,
Sharing stories of both our worlds,
Your teachers, and my friends,
Your students and my professors,
You sitting with your paper bundles,
Me playing by your foot,
Totaling up the marks for your students
Plaiting my hair with all the care and love,
Where today your plants sway for the winds
My memories sway with them too.
On my bike on the streets to your school,
Rushing in the morning frenzy,
Sometimes through rains,
Sometimes through sun.
Without you where would I be?
The fingers that worked, so mine could create music,
The feet that toiled, so mine could climb higher.
The heart that prayed, so mine would be safer,
Miles apart, and worlds apart,
Time has flown, and Ages have passed,
I may no longer hold your finger,
But my heart still flutters around you.

Slippery waves
Pitter patter rain

Pitter patter rain! - Oh! How you fall!
Sometimes so gentle, - Sometimes so fast,
How you love the earth, - that you descend from above,
With not a thought, - not a doubt,
Never to waver, - nor to linger,
Sometimes a dainty drizzle, - Sometimes a drenching downpour,
At times a nervous lover, - At times a long lost love,
Teach me to love, - to love like you,
Not to falter, - not to waver,
Not to hesitate, - not to linger,
Is the earth so worthy, - that you fall with abandon?
Or is it your surrender, - that makes the earth worthy?
